And our researchers and scientists are conducting research that translates into new procedures and treatments that are being used in hospitals around the country and the world.
Research and Innovation
Researchers at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute are driving progress from discovery in the lab to delivery at the bedside, translating breakthroughs into new treatments and improved care. A recent highlight: UAMS secured a five-year, nearly $5.8 million grant from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences to expand research on understudied side effects of cancer treatments, including radiation and chemotherapy.
Clinical Trials and New Therapies
With leaders in experimental therapeutics and a robust clinical trials program, the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute offers Arkansans access to a broad spectrum of cutting-edge studies. On July 1, 2025, the Institute launched the Advarra OnCore Clinical Trials Management System, a state-of-the-art platform that enhances trial oversight, efficiency and patient access.
