Academic Biography
Muthu V. Kumaran, M.D., is an associate professor in the UAMS Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Kumaran received his medical degree from the Stanley Medical College in his native India. He went on to receive a Master of Public Health from the University of Oklahoma. He then completed residency training in internal medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania. He has also completed fellowships in transfusion medicine at UAMS, hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplantation at Wayne State University, and bone marrow transplantation at Stanford University.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the American Association for Blood Banks, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Oncology.

Dr. Kumaran didn't seem to remember that I had had a Pet/CT [IN THE SPRING] which he had ordered the previous [YEAR] and that the scan resulted in suspension of cancer in my left kidney, thyroid, and lymph nodes in my neck and that he had ordered a follow-up CT and appointments with Dr. [NAME] and Dr. [NAME]. He obviously had not reviewed my chart nor the emails between us from [FEW MONTHS PRIOR] to the present. He seemed only interested in scheduling me an appointment for next year in August for another PET scan and to see him.
