Devin Terry, DIR
Clinical Education
Devin was nominated by Becky Sartini, Assistant Director of WISL with supportive statements from Rebekah Thacker, Director of Research and Nursing Excellence
Devin oversees over 30 employees across 3 departments. This is a large number of employees for most nursing leaders and her span of influence reaches far and wide, from the gritty details of patient care to the policies and procedures related to students’ entry into UAMS for clinical rotations.
Devin has the scope of influence over nursing and team members that provide direct patient care. She persistently looks to improve the system of nursing education to promote transitions to practice from new graduates to developing a program to transition new nursing leaders. In addition to the scope of her enormous job, Devin takes on graduate students each semester to provide the guidance needed to the next generation of nursing leaders. It is a tremendous investment in a future nursing leader that is not required for her position.
Devin achieved outstanding results on the Employee Engagement survey. Devin’s scores were among the top scores of all UAMS Nursing Directors, and she had the second most respondents (23). She had the second highest score of all nursing directors for “My manager, or someone at work, seems to care about me as a person”. This was well-documented in a nomination she received for the DAISY Nurse Leader award which stated, “Devin has created an environment of trust, compassion, and respect by her honesty, willingness to listen, and continued desire to help with anything that needs to be addressed. Her ability to encourage and motivate staff coupled with her obvious wealth of knowledge allows her to guide this department towards a bright future.”
