The Clinical Care Assistant (CCA) is a nursing student with at least one semester of clinical experience. PRN employment status starts either in the summer or winter and extends throughout the year. CCAs provide direct patient care and assist with unit tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). They follow UAMS nursing standards, policies, and guest care guidelines to deliver quality care.

- Stay on top of safety protocols

Performing the Role of Clinical Care Assistant
- Complete ongoing training and stay updated on necessary skills to perform the role effectively.
- Organize your work to ensure all tasks are completed during your shift. Collaborate with your RN and team to help patients with their needs.
- Be hands-on—assist with patient care including grooming, feeding, mobility, and comfort.
- Monitor and report patient vitals, assist with treatments, and provide care as directed by your RN.

- Meet the required 8 hours of continuing education annually to enhance your skills.
