September 2018 DAISY Award

DAISY AwardMarisa Molinaro, RN – H8 – Neurology/Neurosurgery

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Marisa, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of September!

Marisa works on H8 – Neurology/Neurosurgery and was nominated by the family of a patient.  The nomination below reflects how Marisa impacted their life in a very special way.

“Throughout our recent stay at UAMS, we experienced excellent care by many staff members but we want to take time to share our sincere gratitude for the care provided by one special person.

There is a song that says angels walk among us and without a doubt Marisa Molinaro is one of those angels. We cannot fully express what her tender treatment of our Mother meant to us. She treated her with the most gentle care and concern and took the time to really learn about her. She quickly felt like part of our family and attended to Mom’s every need. For a patient in comfort care after a severe stroke it could be easy to see how a nurse might be somewhat less attentive but we certainly never experienced a second of that while under Marisa’s care. She made us feel as if our Mother and family were the only ones on the floor. She took time to explain things to us, always took preventative steps to ensure Mom’s comfort, and showed the utmost compassion for our situation. Even though Mom was not responsive Marisa never did anything without first telling her what she was about to do. We would count the hours until shift change and she returned to care for Mom. In fact, knowing Mom’s time was short, we found ourselves praying that Marisa would be on duty when she passed and our prayer was answered. Knowing Marisa was there was a huge comfort to us and she treated Mom with the upmost honor and respect.

Marisa’s skills are a Devine gift and we feel blessed that Mom was able to experience her care during her final days on earth. Please consider this our nomination for Marisa Molinaro to be named Stroke MVP.

If there are other ways we can ensure Marisa is recognized for her exceptional care please let us know.

Sincerely,

The family of Evelyn Maxine Flippo”
