A Look at the May 2025 Winner for the Outstanding Community Service Award

Amelia Hernandez, RN, Neurology Center
(summary of her nomination) Amelia is a member of Women and Children First, a non-profit for domestic abuse victims. The victims are housed at a local shelter and the Peacekeepers Group, which Amelia belongs to, helps take care of domestic abuse victims. They make certain these women and children have everything that they need on a year-round basis. The Peacekeepers arrange events and help them to celebrate holidays. They also provide basic things for them like toiletries, clothes, and food. They also help them with therapy and any other resources they might need. Last month the Peacekeepers raised over $400,000 at the Woman of The Year Gala.
In addition to the incredible work Amelia does with Women and Children First, Amelia is a mentor for a young lady who is a human trafficking survivor; this young lady was homeless and lost both her parents. Together with her mentee, Amelia has begun work with Hope For HOPE, which is a non-profit for victims of domestic, sexual violence, and human trafficking. They have been working to help with research and information sharing. Together they are getting the word out about the cause and helping support the victims with legal resources.
