November 2018 DAISY Award

DAISYLa’shaundra Yancy, RN – H8 – Neurology/Neurosurgery

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating La’shaundra Yancy, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of November!

La’shaundra works on H8 – Neurology/Neurosurgery and was nominated by a co-worker.  The nomination below reflects how La’shaundra impacted their life in a very special way.

“Hello,

I would like to nominate La’shaundra Yancy for the daisy award.  She doesn’t work with me on my home unit but I work with her often enough for her to leave an everlasting impression on me as a nurse and as a human being.  She is nice, compassionate, witty and not just to her coworkers but to her patients.  She is the same person in and out of the rooms of her patients and her level of professionalism and kindness goes above and beyond what you can ask for someone to do in a 12 hour shift.  I heard patients give remarks that she treats them like Royalty or she talks to them like with comfort in her voice; like one of the family members or she spends that extra time in there room just talking and spending that quality time with them when no one else would.  Working under her is a pleasure.  La’shaundra doesn’t talk at you, she’s working with you instead.  If her patients need something and you can’t get it, best believe she has already done it or she has no problem getting it.  La’shaundra walks with pride, confidence and song to her lips everyday, ALL day and I love it.  I have never seen her sweat or break under tough times.  I know that no one is perfect but she is the perfect example of what it takes to be GREAT Nurse and what UAMS Nurses look like inside these walls of ours.  What made me write this up was I worked with her yesterday and every room I went into they had nothing but good things to say about her.  ALL 5 ROOMS.  I went in asked them about their day and they said it was great and the service was great as well.  Some just went right in to tell me how La’shaundra made their day great, by keeping them informed or being very prompt with their needs or even just being able to relate to them with music or just her presence up lifted them.  When I work with La’shaundra she is fully about being a patient advocate and providing that special touch in everyone’s lives.  She also brings with her a level of flawless charisma and empathy to H8 an me as well.  La’shaundra Yancy is very impressive if your every get a chance to see she move.”

Great job, La’shaundra Yancy!
