Kathryn Jones, RN, E5 – Labor and Delivery
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Kathryn Jones, RN, for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of March!
Kathryn Jones, RN, works in E5 – Labor and Delivery, and was nominated by a patient. The nomination below reflects how Kathryn impacted their life in a very special way.
Nomination: December 22nd, 2024. I lost my daughter that I wanted dearly with the very depth of my heart and soul, the most traumatic moment.
Pain I could never imagine and feeling numb. There were 2 specific lights that made the pain bearable which made me feel understood. This was my first pregnancy my first loss as my baby passed away shortly after birth.
I received so much care and comfort; Kathryn was with me the entire time. She never left my side and held my hand the entire time. She comforted me and my husband. She asked if she could hold our baby also to give her love while she was still breathing. She took care of us; she made sure we were taken care of. She even took time out of her day to visit me in Post Partum. She remembered my concerns. She remembered everything I said. I’ve been told before that medical staff would visit me after a medical ordeal, whether mental or physical, and no one showed but Kathryn did. So, when she showed up, I cried and she hugged me. Words cannot describe the amount of appreciation I have. Even now while I’m still grieving, she still calls to check on us. I can honestly say this is rare. My next baby I will come to UAMS and I hope and pray I have this wonderful woman on my care team. She made a difference by making me feel hearted, understood, comforted, and like she truly cared. She made it her mission to make sure we knew our baby was taken care of and that she would he loved even after passing. As I submit this, I’m crying. I’m grieving but have a happy memory of a medical professional that truly cared. I will always remember individual.
Thank you, UAMS, for hiring Kathryn.
Great job, Kathryn!
