March 2019 DAISY Award

DAISYShane Cate, RN – F7 – Stem Cell Transplant/MIRT

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Shane Cate, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of March!

Shane works on F7 – Stem Cell Transplant/MIRT and was nominated by a co-worker.  The nomination below reflects how Shane impacted their life in a very special way.

“I would like to nominate Shane Cate for the DAISY award.

Shane is one of the most helpful nurses I’ve come across on F7. He’s very level headed and never minds helping out any of his coworkers.

Always the generous soul, he makes it a point to bring candy whenever he’s working!  If there’s ever a nice tray of candies at the nurse’s station, you can bet that it was probably him that set out those sweet treats!  He may be contributing to making our tummies bigger, but the sweet gesture is still appreciated!

Since the unit has been so short staffed, there’s usually never a secretary at night to answer phone calls or call lights.  Whenever he gets finished with his rounds, he’ll sit at the nurse’s station to alleviate that burden from the charge nurse.

He’s probably done the most compared to many others to clean up the unit and make it more habitable, from emptying filled garbage cans to going through cabinets to organize and clean up unnecessary paperwork.

Shane is usually the first one I think of to call if there’s a nurse that needs a witness for medication or to help change a heavy patient.

I feel that all the extra work he does needs to be appreciated!  Please give him some recognition and present him with this well-deserved award!”

Great job, Shane Cate!
