July 2024 DAISY Award

Melody Sampson, RN, E6 - High Risk Perinatal

Melody Sampson, RN, E6 – High Risk Perinatal

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Melody Sampson, RN, for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of July!

Melody Sampson, RN, works in E6 – High Risk Perinatal, and was nominated by a Nursing Student. The nomination below reflects how Melody impacted their life in a very special way.

Nomination: As a nursing student at UAMS, I’ve been paired with several nurses in different units. But out of the journey I’ve had so far, I will never forget Melody Sampson or the impact she made on me. Melody was the most engaged, interactive, and supportive nurse I have ever been paired with. She was going above and beyond to try and find skills for me to perform and pushed me to be the best “nurse” in that moment. She taught me so much in such a short amount of time. Not only did she exceed my standards as a preceptor, but she also treated each of her patients with such compassion and kindness. At the end of the day, I left knowing that she had impacted me so positively. I really didn’t know how to thank her enough. I have had so many different nurses throughout my education, but I have never had one that had me leaving clinical so confident, excited, and I wanting to strive to be half the nurse she is.

My biggest inspiration from her was how organized, efficient, and supportive she was to each of her patients. I have been to a lot of units, paired with several nurses and have never felt so excited to be partnered with such a talented and dedicated nurse. I think E6 is the luckiest unit, and I feel so confident to say the staff as a whole is amazing. I feel as if I could support Melody the way she supported me in one day, this would be the way to do it. I want her work ethic, heart for her patients, and personality to be recognized! I’m so thankful to have a forever inspiration.

I graduate next year and my goal is to become a nurse like Melody that has other students feeling the same way I do! Thank you, Melody, for showing me how supportive you truly are, you have made such a difference in me and my education! The way you take care of your patients and treat other staff, you deserve more than I can give you from this nomination!

Great job, Melody!
