January 2023 DAISY Award

Yolanda Ryland, RN - Perioperative Care - PACU

Yolanda Ryland, RN
Perioperative Care – PACU

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Yolanda Ryland, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of January!

Yolanda Ryland works in Perioperative Care – PACU and was nominated by a co-worker and a patient’s family member. The nomination below reflects how Yolanda impacted their life in a very special way.

Nomination: Yolanda is always a smiling helping hand to her coworkers. She approaches each of her patients with compassion and provides thorough care in a very efficient yet effective manner. Yolonda is the role model of calm and confidence with her coworkers and patients. Stressful situations and labor-intensive patients seem to roll off her back as she remains a beacon of positivity and grace. Yolonda is a role model for adaptability. She takes change in stride and aptly modifies practice change. Yolonda’s combination of positivity and confidence with patient and coworker interactions is the exact image we want to exude at UAMS and in PACU. Teammates like Yolonda are the reason people want to work in PACU.
A letter from one of her patient’s family: I wanted to reach out to you about the care provided by Yolanda Ryland to my aunt after her surgery on September 2, 2022. Yolanda was AWESOME! I could not have been more impressed by her professionalism and caring nature. She looked after all my aunt’s needs and really listened and alerted the appropriate people when my aunt had some complications. She got her ice chips, worked to reposition her several times (my aunt is 375lbs, so this was appreciated!), and did everything she could to keep us informed and my aunt comfortable. I am so proud that we have nurses like Yolanda at UAMS, and I wanted to make sure you knew what a great experience we had with her! Thank you,

Great job, Yolanda!
