Janet Perry, RN, Rahling Neighborhood Clinic
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Janet Perry, RN, for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of February!
Janet Perry, RN, works in the Rahling Neighborhood Clinic, and was nominated by a co-worker. The nomination below reflects how Janet impacted their life in a very special way.
Nomination: As a member of the internal medicine-pediatrics physicians who joined the UAMS Internal Medicine Department in August of 2020. I would like to personally thank Janet Perry, RN who also opened this new clinic in 2020 with a group of brand-new doctors. We had no idea how much our group would grow to rely on Janet’s vast clinical knowledge and experience.
She started at UAMS with no previous Epic EMR experience and was the only nurse in our clinic. While she learned everything on the fly, she maintained professionalism and a work ethic that is second to none.
I have commented many times to my colleagues that if Janet was not so tough, our clinic group would not still be afloat. Through staffing shortages, turnover, caring for special patient populations (adult Down Syndrome and Afghan refugees) and training multiple new nurses and medical assistants, she has demonstrated grit and determination and a willingness to press on.
In addition to running our clinic’s day-to-day workflow and operations, our staff also absorbed an additional resident clinic in July of 2022. This added 3-4 additional doctors in the building, 4 days per week.
Our 19 resident providers benefit from working with someone with Janet’s set of skills and knowledge and rely on her to answer questions and help us learn the clinic flow. This increased clinical responsibilities has again challenged our clinic and we are thankful she continues to come to work every day with a positive attitude and willingness to work hard.
We want to express our gratitude from the entire Medicine-Pediatrics clinic group and give Janet an overdue acknowledgement in written form for all she has done and continues to do for us, our patients and UAMS.
Great job, Janet!
