November 2017 DAISY Award

Lisa Bobo, RN – Movement Disorder Clinic – Neurosciences

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Lisa Bobo, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of November!

Lisa works in the Movement Disorder Clinic and was nominated by a patient whose life was positively impacted by the care and hope that was shown to her by Lisa. Following is the DAISY Award nomination submitted by the patient:

“YOU HAVE PARKINSON’S.  Not what I was expecting to hear from visit to a neurologist in Conway, AR. I’m a 53-year-old female – I thought completely healthy with a daughter getting married, my youngest graduating from high school, and my dad in the hospital. Tears and panic overwhelmed me. From there I went to a second neurologist, not from UAMS, and received a probable same diagnosis after having a normal brain MRI and normal blood workup. During this time of complete fog and anxiety, like I have never felt, I was advised to get in with the group at UAMS specializing in Parkinson’s disease. I called several times, leaving messages and so forth, trying to get on the schedule for a particular doctor.

Lisa Bobo called. Why was a nurse taking her time and energy to listen to me and help me when I wasn’t even a patient at the clinic much less a patient of her doctor? Anyone who is being trained in health-related professions where you deal with degenerative and life-altering diseases should take a course from Lisa Bobo. Lisa is professional, caring, knowledgeable, comforting and reassuring. All these attributes and many more I could list are part of Lisa and her being. Lisa was able to give me comfort and hope and that “everything will be ok’ type feeling that one desperately needs when news such as this hits your life like an eighteen wheeler. She called me – reached out to me – and then talked to me on several occasions before I was actually seen at the clinic. That is ideal care and what I wish everyone could experience if dealing with any type of life-altering news. Lisa is my nurse and Dr. Dhall is my physician.

I have had two visits now with Dr. Dhall and Lisa. The first I was a basket case but again, I had Lisa beside me to show genuine care and concern and at the second visit – again – that Lisa cares, truly.

May 16, 2017 is when the storm hit and then the fog came in for a period of time during which Lisa Bobo impacted my life in such a needed way I don’t think words could ever express my gratitude to her.”

Great job, Lisa!
