Happy Nurses Week!

Happy Nurses Week!

We officially kicked off this year’s week of recognition of nursing at UAMS yesterday morning with a kick-off and blessing of the hands. It was a special and moving way to begin our week. Tonight, nurses across Arkansas will be honored as bridges and office buildings in downtown Little Rock are lit up in blue and white lights. If you have a chance, please join us at the Clinton Library Bridge tonight at 8. Thank you to the UAMS Nurses Rock Committee for spearheading the campaign for this statewide recognition.

This year’s activities are centered around the theme “We AR Rooted in Strength,” which is based on the 2022 theme from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

The interactions we have with one another are what bind us together and make the roots of UAMS nursing so strong. I am excited that several Nurses Week activities are in person this year, allowing us to spend time together as we celebrate nursing in a variety of ways throughout the week.

Yesterday morning I was thrilled to announce plans for a new garden, which will be located on the west side of the Shorey Building along Hooper Boulevard. This space will be built in phases over time, and when it’s finished, we will have a designated space for outdoor reflection and respite for our patient care teams. This is SO important, and I look forward to the day when we can share this space together.

If you weren’t able to be there for our kickoff, I hope you will be able to participate in these upcoming Nurses Week and Hospital Week events:
