Sandra Aguilera Ariza is a Housekeeping Associate in the EVS Department and was nominated by Co-worker. The following is the story of how Sandra impacted their lives in a way that they will never forget.
Nomination:
On behalf of myself and many colleagues in Endoscopy, I am writing to nominate Sandra for a Bee award for excellent provision of healthcare support. Sandra consistently keeps our entire unit hygienic and tidy and does so in a manner that is respectful of our procedures, and with a cheerful, warm, and friendly personality. Patients, doctors, and staff have all commented on how efficient and caring she is. Sandra performs her job to a degree that exceeds expectations and makes a habit of going above and beyond the scope of her duties to improve unit functioning. In addition to maintaining a clean work environment that we can all enjoy, Sandra takes her role as a member of the Endoscopy team seriously. Last week, a Spanish-speaking patient was in Endoscopy Preop and reported feeling so anxious about his procedure that he thought he was going to pass out. While I was assessing him, Sandra passed by and noticed his nervous state. She immediately spoke to him in Spanish and reassured him that he was going to receive great medical care in Endoscopy. She chatted with him until he felt better, and only then returned to her own duties. He ended up reporting a great experience when I touched base with him in Recovery, and he sent his thanks to her for helping him feel at ease. Our biggest concern about Sandra is that she might leave our unit, which would be an immeasurable loss to our operation. She is an incredibly valuable asset to our team and would make an exemplary Bee.
