November 2018 BEE Award

BEEGamnell Harris, Patient Services Associate – F9 – ENT/Orthopedic Surgical Specialties

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Gamnell Harris for being selected as the November BEE Award winners!

Gamnell is a Patient Services Associate on F9 – ENT/Orthopedic Surgical Specialties and was nominated by a co-worker.  The following is the story of how Gamnell impacted the patients’ life in a way that they will never forget.

“Being sick or having to have a procedure done is never something one asks for or enjoys.  On F9 we take care of a wide variety of patients; medicine, ortho, trauma, ENT, colorectal, cancer, comfort care, etc.  Gamnell is anyways so patient and kind with our patients and their family members.  Every time I come into a patient room that she’s in the patient/visitors and her are having some type of conversation while she is completing her tasks.  I love how she takes her time in the patient’s room and engages with them; I can only imagine how special this makes them feel to know that she is not rushing and is taking time to get to know them.  Some of our patients are here for days to weeks at a time, some not getting to leave their room or having no visitors, so being able to have a conversation with another person makes them not feel so insolated and I would hope it helps to take their mind off the situation they are in to causing them to be in the hospital.  I do not have a specific patient story to brag on Gammy about because there are way too many.  She is such a hard worker who truly cares about her patients and never do I hear her complain when her patients or co-workers ask for her to complete a task and help them.  I know that Gammy deserves this award and to be recognized for caring and comforting our patients.  I want Gamnell to know how much we on F9 and her patients appreciate her.”

Way to go Gamnell.

Please congratulate Gamnell for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
