Blair Kasero is a Phlebotomist at the UAMS Women’s Clinic, 1st Floor Lab and was nominated by a Patient. The following is the story of how Blair impacted their lives in a way that they will never forget.
Nomination:
Following a recent miscarriage and now a new pregnancy, I have needed multiple early morning lab draws. I was told no appointment was needed and that lab hours were 7:45–3:30. On both mornings that I arrived around 7:30 a.m., Blair was already present, prepared, and welcoming patients well before opening time.
Blair greeted me with a positive attitude, a warm smile, and casual conversation that served as a comforting distraction—not only from the needle stick but also from the anxiety surrounding my lab results. Because of Blair’s efficiency, I was in and out quickly and got to work before 8 a.m., allowing me to maintain privacy during a difficult time.
Blair also demonstrated excellent safety and quality practices. On every visit, Blair verified my identity, confirmed the labs ordered, and ensured accuracy so I would not need to return due to an error. And as a final highlight, Blair’s technique was outstanding—I barely felt the needle sticks. Thank you, Blair, for delivering exceptional patient care and outstanding customer service. Your compassion and professionalism made a meaningful difference during a very vulnerable time.
