Marilyn Allen is a PSC in the F5 – NICU
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Marilyn Allen – for being selected as the March BEE Award winner!
Marilyn Allen is a PSC in the F5 – NICU and was nominated by a co-workers and patient family. The following is the story of how Marilyn impacted their life in a way that they will never forget.
Nomination 1: Due to her consistent positive and welcoming demeanor, exceptional ability to manage a high volume of visitors and phone calls with grace, and her proactive approach in ensuring all guests feel valued and well attended to, Marilyn sets a strong first impression for UAMS.
Recently, my daughter delivered twin baby girls at 33 weeks gestation and her babies were residents of the NICU for 4-5 weeks. I can’t emphasize enough how Marilyn consistently greeted my daughter with a kind heart, and a warm smile with every experience she had with her.
Marilyn always went above and beyond to assist, anticipate her needs and address any concerns my daughter may have proactively.
Moreover, she was just a good listener and friend. She has become such a bright star and has had such a positive impact in my daughter’s already wonderful experience at UAMS. We will never forget Marilyn and her unwavering care she showed to my daughter. It is a gift to be a part of someone’s incredible NICU journey and we are honored and humbled by the service Marilyn unselfishly provided.
Nomination 2: At least for the past 5 years, Marilyn has been the NICUs saving grace., Marilyn has gone above and beyond for our unit and this hospital even through the COVID restrictions! I know I can always count on Marilyn to help with we are short staffed at the NICU main desk. She is always willing to work extra when we have no one else to sit at the desk to answer phones and direct visitors. She will come in early or stay over to help with cleaning equipment, completing hearing screens, and, as a CPST, ensuring patients are fitted appropriately in their car seats and helping with Angle Tolerance Seat Testing to ensure our patients have the best car seat available for their safe journey home!
Marilyn has really been an integral part of this unit! If she had not been willing to come in early or stay late, the safety of our precious patient population would have been compromised by pulling a nurse away from patient care to man the desk.
Marilyn truly embodies Being Exceptional Every day! I appreciate her devotion to this unit! She has saved me and this unit so many times! I wish I had written down what she does every day so all could see just how amazing she truly is.
Way to go Marilyn!
Please congratulate Marilyn for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
