Yesenia Mejia Chavelo, Patient Care Technician – F8 – Cardiac Progressive Care
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Yesenia Mejia Chavelo for being selected as the March BEE Award winners!
Yesenia is a Patient Care Technician in the Cardiac Progressive Care Department and was nominated by a co-workers. The following is the story of how Yesenia impacted the co-workers’ life in a way that she will never forget.
“Yesenia always goes above and beyond her duties as a PCT. She is always available for her patients and to support her co-workers. She puts her heart into her work and to make each patient feel respected and cared for. There was this one patient (female) that had been hospitalized for some time and was very sick. She had been to ICU a couple of times and was in the process of getting her strength back and feeling like a human again, when one night I noticed her nails were polished and the polish was at the bedside. When I asked if her family had done this for her she quickly let me know that Yesenia had brought it to her and polished her nails for her. Something so simple really made a difference to this patient.
Yesenia also is a good role model for her co-workers, keeping the rooms and hallways clean, gloves stocked and being a hard worker. We need more techs like her.”
