June 2026 BEE Award

Qara Johnson is a Patient Care Technician on F8 - Progressive Cardiac Care Unit

Qara Johnson is a Patient Care Technician on F8 – Progressive Cardiac Care Unit.

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Qara Johnson – for being selected as the June BEE Award winner!

Qara Johnson is a Patient Care Technician on F8 – Progressive Cardiac Care Unit and was nominated by a co-worker. The following is the story of how Qara impacted their lives in a way that they will never forget.

Nomination:

I would like to nominate Qara, a Patient Care Technician on F8, for the BEE (Being Exceptional Everyday) Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication to patient care and teamwork.

Although Qara is in her first year as a tech and entered this role without prior hospital experience, she has exceeded expectations in every way. From the start, she has demonstrated a strong desire to learn, grow, and provide the highest level of care to every patient she encounters. Her compassion and kindness are evident in every interaction—she consistently makes patients feel comfortable, respected, and cared for.

What makes Qara especially deserving of this award is her consistency. There isn’t just one defining moment, because she gives her best every single day. She is dependable, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. She maintains excellent communication with the nursing staff, ensuring that any changes in a patient’s condition are quickly recognized and addressed.

One example that highlights her clinical awareness and quick thinking occurred one morning when Qara was the first to enter a patient’s room. After taking vital signs, she immediately recognized that something was not right and promptly notified me at 7:10 a.m. After assessing the patient, I was able to escalate care without delay. Thanks to Qara’s vigilance and timely communication, the patient received urgent labs and imaging and was transferred to a higher level of care. Her actions played a critical role in ensuring the patient’s safety.

In addition to her excellent patient care, Qara has also stepped into the role of preceptor for new techs, showing leadership and a willingness to support others despite being early in her own career.

Qara truly embodies what it means to be “Exceptional Every Day.” Her compassion, teamwork, and dedication make her an invaluable member of the F8 team, and she is highly deserving of this recognition.

Please congratulate Qara for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!

Way to go Qara!
