Jeri Jenkins, Patient Care Tech, F9 – Surgical Specialties/ENT/Ortho

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Jeri Jenkins – for being selected as the June BEE Award winner!

Jeri is a Patient Care Tech on the F9 – Surgical Specialties/ENT/Ortho and was nominated by a co-worker. The following is the story of how Jeri impacted their life in a way that they will never forget.

Nomination: Jeri truly goes above and beyond for not only our patients and their families but also for all the staff on F9. She has been nominated for our monthly VIP award time and time again by the entire nursing staff citing her positive attitude, professionalism, collaboration, initiative, and excellent customer service. Staff comments include:

  1. “Jeri is always willing to help, whether it is her assigned patient or not.”
  2. “I had a full group of progressives as CDF and was also tasked with operating the desk. Jeri went out of her way to not only help me operate the desk, but she also assisted me with my patients throughout the day.”
  3. “The patients are always Ms. Jeri’s main priority. She often skips out on her break and lunch to provide the best patient care.”
She is frequently mentioned by name in our patient comment reports complimenting her willingness to assist them and their families with their needs. One particularly touching comment stated, “I was in the hospital for 10 days and was not doing well mentally. My husband was willing to bring my dog to see me and I had asked for a wheelchair so that I could go outside to see him. Jeri went out of her way to find me a wheelchair, saying that she had to go to several other floors and down to the first floor to find one for me. It made me feel like I was her only patient that day and when I mentioned it to my nurse, she told me that Jeri was caring for 15 patients that day. Jeri is one of a kind!” Jeri truly embodies what it means to be a team player and is serves as a role model to all.
