July 2018 BEE Award

Anna Mack, MRI Technologist 1 – Imaging – Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Anna Mack for being selected as the July BEE Award winners!

Anna is a MRI Technologist 1 with Imaging – Magnetic Resonance Imaging and was nominated by a patient.  The following is the story of how Anna impacted the patients’ life in a way that they will never forget.

“In 2015, I was diagnosed with atypical ductal hyperplasia of the breast. As part of my treatment being a high risk breast cancer patient, I must have annual MRIs with contrast for screening. Today, I had my MRI and I have to admit I was very nervous and ALMOST cancelled my appointment.  However, when I arrived at the Cancer Institute MRI center, the front desk staff were very welcoming and I felt a little less nervous.  I was called back promptly and greeted by the radiology tech, Anna, who addressed me by my name with a smile.  She was very pleasant and confident in her care which put me a little more at ease.  With every step of the procedure, from getting dressed, the IV start, to what to expect with the contrast and the MRI machine itself, I was able to relax a little bit more.  Anna made sure I was comfortable and her keeping me informed of what to expect and how long for everything to take helped me be able to calm my anxiety and relax as much as possible.  Even going so far as asking me about the temperature of the room and if I wanted a blanket for my comfort was and how the IV contrast felt as it was going in I thought was a special touch and was very appreciated!

Thank you Anna!”

Way to go Anna.

Please congratulate Anna for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
