Ja’Mere Jackson, Medical Assistant, OPC 4th Floor Surgery Clinic
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Ja’Mere Jackson – for being selected as the December BEE Award winner!
Ja’Mere is a Medical Assistant in the OPC 4th Floor Surgery Clinic and was nominated by a co-workers and a family member of a patient. The following is the story of how Ja’Mere impacted their life in a way that they will never forget.
Nomination: On September 26, 2024, we had a patient and his wife in clinic that had a prolonged visit for labs and readmission to the hospital. They are having some tough times currently as they have 5 children, she takes care of her quadriplegic mother-in-law, they have had recent loss of income, along with her husband’s recent prolonged hospitalization. His wife is a diabetic and asked for some crackers or peanut butter as she was feeling like her blood sugar was low. I asked Ja’Mere as she is always in this clinic. Without hesitation, she went into the room and asked the wife to come with her so she could buy her some lunch. Ja’Mere offered the wife a hug and allowed her to cry on her shoulder and assured her that everything would be okay. She took her to lobby cafe and -bought her a salad and a drink and just allowed the wife to talk and share her feelings about recent events in their life. Ja’Mere cares deeply about our patients and their families. I believe she went above and beyond to truly provide comfort, hope, and healing this day. She is a great asset to surgery clinic.
Patients’ wifeShe offered me a hug and a shoulder to cry on and bought me lunch…. I needed that hug a lot more than that salad, to tell you the truth. Being a caregiver to a severely ill spouse is SO HARD! I really needed that. Thank you, Jamere!
Way to go Ja’Mere!
Please congratulate Ja’Mere for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
