Belinda Moody, Patient Care Technician – A7 Med Surg COVID
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Belinda Moody for being selected as the August BEE Award winner!
Belinda is a Patient Care Technician on the Med Surg COVID unit and was nominated by two (2) coworkers. The following is the story of how Belinda impacted their lives, the life of a dying patient and their family, in a way that they will never forget.
“Belinda is always a very hard worker and goes about her patient care each day regardless of the number of patients assigned to her. She always finds time to devote herself fully to each patient’s needs. Staffing has been difficult for PCTs on the COVID units; however, Belinda always comes to work prepared to do whatever it takes to care for her patients. Our comfort care patients with COVID-19 are unable to have family visitors even at the end of life. To help a family cope with this incredibly hard time, Belinda spent two (2) hours in between her vital signs and other tasks to sit in the room and hold a FaceTime with a dying patient’s daughter. This was a hard time for the family as they prepared for their loved one to pass, but Belinda was present in the room allowing the family member to be present for the patient’s last breath. This is an exemplary example of someone going above and beyond to provide care for her patients and their families.”
