Position Specifics:
- Individual unit offers for full-time positions – 72 hours per pay period
- 12 hour shifts – nights, days, or variable (based on unit need)
- Weekend Rotations (based on unit needs)
- Clinical Orientation – Specialized 3 weeks
- Unit Orientation – paired with Preceptors for 9 to 12 weeks depending on unit & progress (Exception: ED, Adult ICU & NICU – longer orientation periods)
Program Summary
- 12 month Graduate RN Resident Program
- Transition to Practice classes will be held every other month during the first year to build nursing competency, knowledge, skills and attitudes
- Unit specific orientation activities along with experienced preceptors in all clinical areas, who provide support and guidance
- Mentoring and support for the new graduates’ professional well-being provided throughout the first year of practice
- Division nurse leaders coordinating additional observation experiences to match the unique patient population
Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of an RN nursing program
- Permanent or temporary licensure to practice nursing in the State of Arkansas (by scheduled start date)
- Must have less than 12 months of RN work experience
- ADN or BSN (As a goal of being a Magnet organization, for those hired into an RN position, it is expected that the graduate nurse will obtain a BSN within three years of your start date as an RN with UAMS.
Requirements
- Online Application & 3 Skill Survey references -1 instructor/1 manager /1 peer (co-worker or classmate), or 2 instructors/1 peer ( if no previous employment), must be completed prior to interview selection consideration
- Professional Resume & Cover Letter (upload as one document into the system upon application)
- Complete the 1-year Transition to Practice program and all monthly classes required to advance through the Clinical Ladder. These classes are created to build nursing competencies, knowledge, skills and abilities.
