Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Teresa Crutchfield, MSN, RNC-NIC, C-ELBW
Clinical Services Manager, Internal Medicine – Ambulatory, for being selected as the December 2024 UAMS DAISY Nurse Leader Award recipient! This award expresses gratitude for courageous leaders fostering an environment where compassion and courage can thrive.
Teresa is a Clinical Services Manager, in Internal Medicine – Ambulatory and was nominated by a UAMS co-worker. The comments below are taken from her nomination which speak to each characteristic as an outstanding nurse leader.
Creates an environment where attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development and ethical behavior are modeled and support.
I was mauled by a 130lb dog in March of this year. She came to the ED Trauma room and sat with me and my husband after this horrific event. Terri has worked around every doctor’s appt, surgery, and restriction to help me continue working. I was allowed to work from home in order to keep up my with clinic calls and EPIC responsibilities including helping other clinics so I could get my hours.
Just this morning, our charge nurse had a flat when she went out to get in her car. Terri left and went and got her to bring her to work. She has done these many times with other employees as well.
Motivates staff with a shared vision and enthusiasm to achieve better outcomes for themselves and for their patients and families.
Terri has a positive attitude; she has started a monthly study group to help the nurses obtain certification during lunch. I believe she has even bought materials for the study.
There have been employees going to college. She has changed schedules, staffed, and “bent over backwards” to help staff achieve their life goals.
She has set an example for improving by obtaining her master’s degree this year.
Promotes and enhances the image of nursing within the organization, the community and the profession including engagement, recognition, and retention.
She hands out a GOAT award to a different employee monthly ensuring everyone feels appreciated and valued.
This may sound unimportant, but she keeps snacks, candy, a microwave and a hot water kettle with tea/soup/cocoa in her office. This allows her staff to feel comfortable talking to her about all sorts of things when they come in for a quick snack. It improves staff attitudes knowing they have a supervisor who cares enough to provide those things and has “time” for them. Happy employees are more productive
I can’t even begin to tell you all the things professionally and personally that she has done to help her employees. She has allowed time off last minute for critical life situations, she has triaged for hours when we were short staffed. She is quick to recognize when a staff member has a “good catch”, has a pt compliment or just goes above and beyond. She truly leads by example, and I can honestly say in my 23 years as a nurse, she is the BEST supervisor I have ever had and one of the biggest reason most of us are still here!
Thank You, for demonstrating the true values of a DAISY Nurse Leader!
