Emma McCullough, RN – H4- Trauma/SICU/CVICU
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Emma McCullough, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of October!
Emma McCullough works on unit H4 – Trauma/SICU/CVICU and was nominated by a family member of a patient. The nomination below reflects how Emma impacted their life in a very special way.
Nomination: On April 3rd of this year, my dad was transferred to UAMS after sustaining a major head injury from a fall off a ladder. The next day, we would meet Emma. She was the nurse assigned to Dad for that day. She was also the nurse that took care of Dad as he passed from this earth and on to heaven. Emma was an incredible caregiver to my Dad. She provided competent, compassionate care for him her whole shift. When the time came for support to be withdrawn, Emma’s bedside care was unmatched. She was attentive, careful to make sure that she was always available, but never an intrusion in those last moments of Dad’s life. She made certain that every little detail of his passing was well cared for. Every time a medication was needed for his comfort in passing, she was there. She anticipated the needs of our family at his bedside. She had perfect, compassionate words during our time of loss and grief. Emma was an incredible caregiver and nurse. She took one of the hardest aspects of nursing care, and made it seem flawless, always ensuring that my Dad and my family had exactly what we needed. Her kindness, care and compassion are true attributes of an excellent nurse. She is most deserving of this Daisy award.
Great job, Emma!
