Kearia Mack, RN, E5 – Labor and Delivery
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Kearia Mack, RN, for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of June!
Kearia Mack, RN, works in E5 – Labor and Delivery, and was nominated by a patient. The nomination below reflects how Kearia impacted their life in a very special way.
Nomination: During my pregnancy, I was transferred from another hospital to UAMS. I was two months early from my delivery date and terrified with no family or friends by my side.
Kearia was the very first night nurse that I had, and I didn’t know what to expect, but she gave me a sense of relief. She took very good care of me. She was the only nurse that would come in and joke around with me to make me smile and to relieve my stress. It made me feel like I had a best friend and a sister that was taking care of me and that relieved a lot of stress. She advocated for me to the best of her ability, and she saw the fear in my eyes as I cried, because I did not want to undergo surgery. She promised me that she would be by my side, every step of the way and that she would not leave me. The one thing I can remember before they had to give me medication to put me to sleep during surgery is I saw her, and she talked to me the entire time while she cleaned me up. When I woke up, she was the first face that I saw, I was so overwhelmed with joy. This young lady is by far the most amazing person that I have ever met in a hospital setting and in general.
Thank you so much for being not only an amazing nurse to me and taking care of me, but for also advocating for me and treating me like I was a friend or family rather than just another patient in a hospital. I will never forget you.
Great job, Kearia!
