Rebekka Amick, APRN, 2nd Floor OPC
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Rebekka Amick, APRN, for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of January!
Rebekka Amick, APRN, works on the 2nd Floor OPC, and was nominated by a patient. The nomination below reflects how Rebekka impacted their life in a very special way.
Nomination: When I first went to Nurse Amick I was at the end of my rope. I had topped the scale at 429lbs. and felt I had no hope of ever losing weight.
Rebekka showed love and compassion for my situation, after the first visit, I just felt she was going to help me make a difference in my life. She is such a positive caring clinician; it was obvious her work was her passion. She laid out a plan for my weight loss program; to me I finally had hope. She worked patiently with me on a monthly basis, she never gave up on me.
Through medication, diet and lifestyle changes I was able to see results. She was as happy for me; each month I came back to see her. Even if it was a few pounds, she gave me hope.
Sometimes she had to write letters to my insurance company for certain medication approval, and she never stopped until I was able to obtain the needed medication for my treatment. Today I am now at 170lbs, and “We” did it together! She has literally saved my life, and I owe her so much.
I am off all blood pressure medication, and I have never been happier and feel as good as I do today. None of this would have been possible without Nurse Amick. At this time, I would like to nominate Rebekka Amick, APRN for the well-deserved Daisy Award.
Very Truly Yours,
Dara Booth
Great job, Rebekka!
