Caitlin Youngman, RN, ED – Emergency Department
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Caitlin Youngman, RN, for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of December!
Caitlin Youngman, RN, works in the ED – Emergency Department, and was nominated by a family member of a patient. The nomination below reflects how Caitlin impacted their life in a very special way.
Nomination: My brother was admitted with sepsis related to an infected diabetic foot ulcer. His ED nurse that night was Caitlin, and she was an absolute ROCKSTAR! She provided outstanding care. I’m an “old school nurse” and she acted like one too! She paid attention to the little details that matter. She spent time getting to know my brother, she talked to him and joked with him. Her technical skills were top notch, but her nursing skills were stellar. I watched her go to other rooms and help move patients and beds. The first resident that came into my brother’s room was awful and she listened to me and let the Attending know we needed to talk with him to share our concerns.
Caitlin advocated for my brother with providers, took care of him and respected him as a person. She even took time to ensure my husband and me were okay.
Towards the end of her shift, Caitlin went upstairs and got my brother a real bed so he would be more comfortable since it was going to be a while before he went upstairs.
I just cannot say enough good things about Caitlin. She is a natural leader, and I can’t wait to watch her career from afar!
Thank you, Caitlin!
Great job, Caitlin!
