Greetings!
I’m very pleased to welcome you and introduce a reimagined version of our UAMS nursing newsletter. We’ve partnered with the UAMS Marketing and Communications team to create a user-friendly e-newsletter that will provide both UAMS-specific information and valuable medical news related to your specialty. You’ll also have easy, convenient access to free CE and monthly updates from your nursing colleagues.
Each weekly edition will feature one or two UAMS articles along with medical news and links to CE offerings. You can customize the type of medical news you’d like to receive. UAMS physicians and referring physicians across the state use a similar format, and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as they have.
Much of the content will be familiar, and we’ll continue to share accolades, achievements, community service work, quality and safety information and all the other information you’re used to seeing in our Nursing Newsletter.
I’d like to also share news of our new assistant clinical services manager (ACSM) role which began this summer. This new position allows us to have leadership in-house on most units during nights and some weekends. This is designed to help engage all our staff and ensure we continue to focus on our employee experience, the patient experience and quality and safety at all times. Please let me know how this is working on your unit.
I want you all to know how proud I am of your work during the pandemic and how grateful we are for your dedication and support of our patients. Please take advantage of all the wellness resources UAMS offers and take care of yourself. It’s been a long 18 months, and your wellness is important not only to UAMS but also your family and community. Remember, you must put on your own oxygen mask first.
Throughout the pandemic we’ve seen how important communication is. If you have a question or concern, please don’t hesitate to talk with your manager or director or send me an email or stop me in the hall. I take my role as the advocate for nursing seriously, and I welcome feedback and love spending time talking with our teams. It takes input from everyone to make UAMS the best place for nursing, and we want to know what we can do to help.
Thank you for all you do!
