Madison Sipes, Registered Respiratory Therapist
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Madison Sipes – for being selected as the March BEE Award winner!
Madison is a registered Respiratory Therapist and was nominated by a patient. The following is the story of how Madison impacted their life in a way that they will never forget.
Nomination: I love the Wizard of Oz movie and I can relate my journey through UAMS during my surgery with the movie. Madison Sipe from the pulmonary lab. I had been told many horror stories about arterial blood gas draws and I explained to her just how anxious I was about it. She very confidently told me to wait until she had drawn it and tell her if this was true. I stuck out my trembling wrist for the torture I was sure to come, and she said, “I’m not drawing from there that hurts too bad”. She stuck my brachial artery, and it was not even as painful as a regular blood draw. She went immediately to the superpower list. I must say how much I appreciate being at a teaching institution. No one ever acts like they are in too big a hurry to answer any of my, I’m sure, silly questions and always feel like they listen to my concerns. There are some truths from the movie that are exampled at UAMS. One is “It’s not where you go but the people you meet along the way”. But Dorothy was right about one thing. “There’s no place like home!”
Way to go Madison!
Please congratulate Madison for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
