“To Whom it may concern,
I would like to acknowledge Tori Rushing and Olympia Johnson for the BEE Award. Both of these ladies took exceptional care of my husband, Kevin Steed, during his stay in F829 February 26-March 14.
Tori went the extra mile by just jumping in, rolling up her pants legs, and helping Kevin shower when he wasn’t being very cooperative. She did all the dirty work when he was having problems. She changed sheets, cleaned him up and was so pleasant the whole time. She worked tirelessly in her efforts to keep him clean, comfortable and happy. I know she is working toward her RN degree. It is my opinion that she would make an excellent addition to your staff in that capacity. She’s such a hard worker and so pleasant. She was very knowledgeable in everything she did to help us.
Olympia was also an exceptional caregiver. She took such pride in her work. She also worked tirelessly in helping Kevin to stay comfortable and keeping his spirits up. She took such pride in being the first one to finally get him a huge UAMS mug of ice water. He had gone almost a week without being able to take a drink of water and she truly sympathized with his uncomfortable thirst. She had said that when he finally got a chance to get a drink she wanted to be the one to do it. She checked on him numerous times daily because she knew he was in such pain. She always tried to keep the mood light by making suggestions about things that might make him more comfortable. On the last day of his stay in the hospital, she and Amy Dunn organized a card signed by several of his nurses and a very sweet gift basket for him. Needless to say, that brought him to tears. He knew he had been hard to deal with at times and the extra effort these caregivers put forth in keeping him comfortable and healthy meant so much to both of us. All of the staff that assisted us during Kevin’s stay were phenomenal. These two ladies just stood out to us because of their tireless efforts and wonderful work ethic. We felt so blessed to receive the care at UAMS.
Respectfully yours,
Lana Steed”
Way to go Tori and Olympia.
Please congratulate Tori and Olympia for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
