Yasma Griffin, Patient Service Associate – PRI – Women’s Unit
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Yasma Griffin for being selected as the February BEE Award winners!
Yasma is a Patient Service Associate on PRI – Women’s Unit and was nominated by a co-worker. The following is the story of how Yasma impacted her co-worker’s life in a way that they will never forget.
“On October 22, 2018, Yasmine and I took the PRI 5 patients to the Dining Room for dinner at 16:45. I noticed that the Dining Room staff was not himself. He struggled to make trays for the 5 patients we had brought down. I asked the Dining Room staff to sit down while I got in touch with the Charge Nurse. He finished the last patient tray and did sit down. The Charge Nurse came down to check on the sick Dining Room staff. Another employee walked into the Dining Room at that time. The Charge Nurse and I attempted to call someone to take over for the Dining Room staff, to no avail. The PRI 6 patients were scheduled to come down for dinner at 17:30. The Dining Room staff was taken to the Emergency Room. Yasmine took charge. Yasmine and another staff member donned hair nets and gloves and with me calling out diets and allergies, they made the dinner trays for all of the PRI 6 patients. The 6th floor RN came and picked up the trays for the patients. I had no idea what to do with all the leftover food. Yasmine, with the assistance of another staff member, packed up all the leftovers, cleaned the entire Dining Room and took all the leftover food over to the main kitchen. All this was done in addition to any other duties that were assigned to be completed on the unit. Yasma showed leadership and concern for the patients. Yasma was exceptional. I would like to nominate Yasma for a BEE award. Thank you.”
Way to go Yasma.
Please congratulate Yasma for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
