What We Do
The core functions of the Office of Patient Experience are:
- Patient Engagement: We partner with our patients and families and involve them in making decisions that affect patient care.
- Performance Improvement: We use feedback from patients and families to work with staff to improve the way we provide care.
- Data Management: We help our staff understand feedback from patients and families and keep them informed.
- Infrastructure: We provide a consistent, coordinated approach to designing policies that support a positive patient and family experience throughout the institution.
- Education & Training: We teach staff the importance of respecting, listening to, and explaining things to patients and families in a way that they can understand.
- Regulatory: We ensure UAMS is always in compliance with rules and regulations of government and non-government agencies related to patient experience.
Why Patient Experience is Important to Us
At UAMS Health, we prioritize patient experience and are committed to ensuring that every patient feels cared for and respected throughout their healthcare journey. We genuinely care about each individual who comes through our doors. Our dedication is reflected in our guiding principles. Our “why” includes:
- Trust and Confidence: We want our patients to build trusting relationships with our healthcare providers, making our patients feel more confident in the care they receive.
- Comfort and Safety: Our goal is that every patient would feel safe, comfortable, and well-cared-for, reducing anxiety and stress during medical visits or treatments.
- Better Communication: When our patients have positive interactions with our healthcare providers, they are more likely to communicate openly, ask questions, and express concerns, leading to better understanding and management of their health.
- Empowerment and Engagement: All of our patients should feel respected and involved in decision-making, leading them to feel more empowered and engaged in their own healthcare, which can improve adherence to treatment plans and health outcomes.
- Personalized Care: Patients should feel that care is personalized and tailored to their individual needs, preferences, and values.
- Emotional and Psychological Well-being: Positive interactions with our healthcare providers can improve our patient’s emotional and psychological well-being, leading to a more holistic approach to health.
- Continuity of Care: Satisfied patients are more likely to pursue a continuity of care and a more comprehensive understanding of their health history.
- Reduced Stress: A positive experience can reduce the stress associated with medical visits, making it easier for our patients to seek care when needed and maintain regular check-ups.
How Do We Accomplish This
Your voice is Important to us. We know no one can help us improve our system more than our patients and families. UAMS Health values partnering with patients and families at every step of the way.
Patient Surveys
