A clinic visit or hospital stay can sometimes be overwhelming and stressful. At UAMS, the Center for Patients and Families is dedicated to the needs of our patients and families, providing support and information while they are receiving care at our hospital.
Office of Patient Experience
Patient- and Family-Centered Care means partnering with patients and their families in both inpatient and outpatient settings, not only in their own care, but also in policy development, building planning, review of patient education materials and other UAMS initiatives.
Volunteers play an important and intricate role in the life of the UAMS campus. In all capacities, volunteers have made the commitment to give of their time and care in order to make the hospital community seem more friendly and inviting. This important commitment helps to enrich patients, their families and the UAMS experience as a whole.
If you live outside the United States, the Department of Special Services International Division is your link to one of the most respected academic medical centers in the world. The Department of Special Services works closely with all international patients who come to UAMS seeking medical care.
At UAMS, one of the many ways we seek to provide support to our patients and their loved ones is by providing access to pastoral care. Our chaplains attend to the religious needs of patients and their families in concurrence with their medical care. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day to provide spiritual or emotional support to patients, family members, friends and employees as they deal with the difficult issues surrounding a new diagnosis or hospitalization.
Patient and Family Resource Center
At UAMS, we want to create a place that promotes healing, learning and active patient and family participation in the healing process. The Patient and Family Resource Center, located on the first floor of our hospital near the Lobby Cafe, is another way that we are trying to make it easier when you or a loved one is in the hospital.
The UAMS Medical Center gift shop is staffed by the UAMS Medical Center Auxiliary. Shoppers also can feel good about gift shop purchases since all are tax exempt, with all revenue used to help patient care programs at UAMS.
