Overnight Visits

Due to an increase in COVID-19 patients in Arkansas and across the country, UAMS is implementing new visiting policies for our hospital. Read the new policies.

In Patient Rooms

Patient rooms on the F and H wings of the hospital (excluding ICU rooms) have a sleeper sofa inside the room. Lounge chairs are provided in patient rooms on the E wing. One family member is invited to spend the night with the patient when patient care or comfort is enhanced by having a family member present. Children under 12 are not allowed to stay overnight in any area of the hospital.

Hospital Sleep Areas

One adult family member of patients who are not able to stay in the patient’s room may stay in the designated overnight sleep areas on the 4th floor and on E6. Phones in these areas allow the care team to contact you if you are needed in the patient’s room.

Guests in these sleep areas are asked to get an overnight guest sticker from the patient’s unit. You can trade this sticker for an overnight badge on the 4th floor at the F Wing reception desk between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Please wear your overnight badge so it is visible at all times. Overnight badges are good for one night only.

The sleep area is to be quiet from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Please leave the sleep room if you need to make a phone call or have a conversation.

Lap blankets are distributed from 8 to 9 p.m. and collected the following morning between 8 and 9 a.m. The sleep area is staffed by a UAMS host until 11 p.m. Please limit personal items and use the lockers provided for storage if you need to leave the sleep room.

A red phone in the sleep area provides a direct link to the UAMS Police Department in case of emergency.

UAMS Residence Halls

Family members may be eligible to stay in a UAMS Residence Hall. All suites include a bedroom, living room, kitchenette and dining area along with Internet access, cable TV and complimentary parking for one vehicle. Nightly rates are $75-$85, depending on the suite. Monthly rates are also available. The Residence Hall is not able to accommodate children.

Hotels

Many nearby hotels have special rates for UAMS patients, families and visitors. Several also offer free transportation to and from the hospital and nearby shopping malls. The Family Resource Center on the first floor of the hospital near the B elevators can provide you with detailed information on nearby hotels. The Center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
