UAMS aims to provide the highest quality experience to our patients and families. Our mission and vision emphasize this commitment. We recognize that every interaction a patient or their loved one has with UAMS is important, from the time spent with our providers, nurses and staff to accessing health information online. We want our patients and family members to have an excellent experience at every encounter.
The core functions of the Office of Patient Experience are:
- Performance Improvement: We use feedback from patients and families to work with staff to improve the way we provide care.
- Patient Engagement: We partner with our patients and families and involve them in making decisions that affect patient care.
- Data Management: We help our staff understand feedback from patients and families and keep them informed.
- Infrastructure: We provide a consistent, coordinated approach to designing policies that support a positive patient and family experience throughout the institution.
- Education & Training: We teach staff the importance of respecting, listening to, and explaining things to patients and families in a way that they can understand.
- Regulatory: We ensure UAMS is always in compliance with rules and regulations of government and non-government agencies related to patient experience.
Your Voice is Important to Us
We know no one can help us improve our system more than our patients and families. UAMS values partnering with patients and families at every step of the way. We do this by collecting feedback through surveys, listening to patients and families during their visits, and through time spent with our dedicated patient and family advisors.
Patient Surveys
Because it is important to UAMS that we understand how our patients and families perceive their UAMS experience, we may send you a patient survey with questions about your experience. Please share your thoughts with us both during your visit and after. We take this feedback seriously and use it to recognize staff for excellent care and to help us improve the way we do things to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our patients and families.
Listening to Our Patients
Whether you are here for a clinic appointment, a procedure or surgery, an inpatient stay, or another type of visit with us, we want to be sure we are listening to you carefully and explaining things completely to ensure that we are providing safe, quality care.
Patient and Family Advisory Council
Advisors are patient and family volunteers who work with UAMS care providers and staff to enhance the quality and safety of healthcare experiences for everyone. This partnership uses the philosophy of patient and family centered care that is central to our services at UAMS. For more information on Patient and Family Advisory Councils, click here.
