October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month–a time for us to recognize the thousands of families who experience perinatal loss every year, and a time to remember the babies who are no longer here with us.
Perinatal loss is unfortunately far too common an event, and one that is often heart breaking, devastating, and life-altering.
For those of you who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or infant, we are thinking of you, your family and your precious babies this month. We want you to know that their lives were important and meaningful, and that they will never be forgotten.
“We remember the babies born sleeping; those we carried but never held; those we held but could not take home; those who came home but could not stay.”
UAMS Day of Remembrance
The UAMS Love Lives Care Team will hold a special remembrance ceremony in October each year, in honor of the precious lives lost too soon, and the families who love and miss them. If you or someone close to you has experienced pregnancy or infant loss, know that we are thinking of you on this day, and wishing you comfort, peace, and healing. We hope that some of the information and resources in these pages may be helpful to you, and that you will always find ways to remember and celebrate your children.
Wave of Light Ceremony
October 15 is recognized across the world as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day; each year on this day, the Wave of Light Ceremony is held on the steps of the Arkansas State Capitol building. This is an opportunity to come together as a community, to honor and remember our babies.
