Advanced Practice Providers
Advanced practice providers include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, clinical nurse specialists, and certified registered nurse anesthetists. Advanced practice providers are clinical providers with specialized education, training, certification, and licensure that allows them to provide health related services that are fundamental to interdisciplinary patient care.
Center for Advanced Practice Excellence
Launched in 2021, the Center for Advanced Practice Excellence at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is devoted to advancing the role of the advanced practice provider, as advanced practice providers continue to broaden visibility at UAMS and nationwide. The Center for Advanced Practice Excellence is committed to increasing advanced practice providers engagement, recruiting and retaining outstanding advanced practice providers, cultivating wellness, and optimizing patient care.
Advanced Practice Provider Engagement
The advanced practice provider shared governance council began in 2020 with a mission to unite and empower advanced practice providers across UAMS campuses, facilitate communication among advanced practice providers, and to promote awareness and cohesion of practice within clinical specialties in order to promote a healthy work environment while optimizing patient care and satisfaction.
Excellence in Advanced Practice Award
The Excellence in Advanced Practice Award was created in 2021 and is bestowed upon the advanced practice registered nurse who excels in UAMS Health core values of integrity, respect, diversity and health equity, teamwork, creativity, excellence, and safety. This professional is recognized for their admirable character, selfless dedication, continued leadership, and outstanding advocacy for the profession of advanced practice nursing. Perpetually raising the bar for all, they help establish a higher standard quality of care.
