Also called: PID
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, also known as PID, is an infection of a woman’s genitals. It is commonly made worse due to sexually-transmitted infections like chlamydia or gonorrhea. There are other infections that can cause PID that are not sexually transmitted.
How will you know if you have PID? There is no test for PID, a diagnosis is normally based on a combination of your medical history, physical exam, and other test results.
PID can be treated and cured through treatment with antibiotics. You can get PID again if you contract another STI.
