COVID-19 Update

Before Coming to UAMS

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, think you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, call the UAMS appointment center at (501) 686-8000 to reschedule your appointment. You may also ask if your appointment can be done by phone or video.

Patients who have had a COVID-19 infection may have in-person appointments at UAMS 21 days after infection or a positive COVID test, as long as your symptoms are improving. Please call the clinic where your appointment is scheduled if you have any questions about coming for an in-person visit. You may be able to have an appointment by phone or video while you are waiting for clearance for an in-person visit.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

UAMS has safety measures in place to protect our patients and employees. Everyone who comes to UAMS is required to wear a mask and pass a health screening before entering the building. You will also have your temperature taken. Please wear a clean mask to your clinic visit, and do not remove it until asked to do so by a UAMS employee.

Outpatient Visitor Guidelines

Beginning March 3, 2021, one person may come to your appointment with you. You may also include a friend or family member in your appointment by phone or video chat.

If you need a wheelchair from your car to your appointment, transport staff may be available at the main UAMS campus. Contact your clinic for more information.

Please visit our COVID-19 resources to learn more about what to expect at your appointment.

About Hematology Oncology Clinic

Hematology oncology specialists treat blood-related diseases as iron deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, thalassemias, leukemias and lymphomas, as well as cancers of other organs. Learn more about our Autologous and Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant programs.

You will be provided with primary cancer treatment and continuous follow-up. Second opinions are available for both inpatient and outpatients.

The multidisciplinary approach to health care, which includes input from caring specialists in many different areas, is the standard for our clinics in the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

Depending on your condition, you may be eligible to participate in research clinical trials, which offer new and innovative treatments not available elsewhere in Arkansas.
