Labor & Delivery (E5)
E5 Labor and Delivery unit is located in the Harry P. Ward Clinical Tower. The unit consists of 14 LDR rooms, four triage observational beds, three operating rooms suites, a three-bed recovery room area and a state-of-the-art Neonatal Stabilization room used to stabilize acutely ill neonates with specially trained staff from the Neonatal Intensive Care. Labor and Delivery provides high-risk obstetrical care for patients from all over our state. On average, this unit performs approximately 300-330 deliveries per month. The LDR rooms allow the expectant mother to labor, deliver, and recover in the birthing suites with family support. E5 Labor and Delivery supports patient and family centered care and as a result, the newborns, if stable, are allowed to stay with their mother’s after delivery to promote bonding.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) F5/H5
F5/H5 is a 64 bed NICU with single-room design providing care for early high-risk, low birth weight infants as well as acutely ill full term newborns. NICU is a Level IIIB Nursery and provides 24/7 physician and nursing care to serve the citizens of the State of Arkansas. High level developmental and technological care is combined with the specialized neonatal expertise of our health care team. The dedication of our NICU team allows us to provide patient- and family-centered care through Comfort, Hope and Healing to each infant and their family.
In each patient room, parent provisions include linen for a twin bed with a drawer space and a sleeper chair. Additional parent areas include showers, a washer/dryer, sibling areas, computer access, and a kitchen space. Parent (s) living out of central Arkansas can inquire daily about other possible sleep arrangements.
NICU also provides the opportunity for parents to participate in use of the Angel Eye ‘webcams.’ These cameras are placed over the baby’s incubator and allows for ‘real time’ viewing from any computer over a secure network. These cameras also help to promote bonding when the families are not able to visit the baby in the NICU.
