The Pharmacy Department
The UAMS Pharmacy & Therapeutics Service Line consists of the Hospital Pharmacy, Surgery (OR) Pharmacy Satellite, Clinical Pharmacy Services, Cancer Institute Pharmacy Satellite, Investigational Drug Services, Outpatient Pharmacy, and Specialty Pharmacy Services.
The primary function of the UAMS Hospital Pharmacy is to support the provision of safe drug therapy to our hospitalized patients. This Pharmacy is licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy under the provisions of a Hospital Pharmaceutical Services Permit. The Hospital Pharmacy is located on the Ground Floor of Ward Tower (E wing), room G1010.
The UAMS Surgery (OR) Pharmacy Satellite provides services specifically for Same-Day Surgery and the inpatient surgery areas. The Surgery satellite is located on the second floor of Ward Tower (E wing) adjoining the inpatient surgery suites.
The Pharmacy and Therapeutics Service Line also provides Clinical Pharmacy Services for hospitalized and ambulatory patients at UAMS. Clinical pharmacy specialists assist interprofessional teams and providers in the provision of safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication use. Clinical Pharmacy Services are currently provided in the following areas: MICU, SICU, Trauma/EGS, Emergency Medicine, NICU, Solid Organ Transplant, Hematology/Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease (Antimicrobial Stewardship), and Ambulatory Care Clinics (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Women’s Health Care Clinic, Geriatrics).
The UAMS Cancer Institute Pharmacy Satellite provides services specifically for the Infusion Centers located in the Cancer Institute and 1st floor of the Outpatient Center. They specialize in chemotherapy and medications related to the care of cancer patients. The Cancer Institute satellite is located on the 5th floor of the Cancer Institute.
The UAMS Investigational Drug Service provides oversight for the storage and use of any investigational drug used in human research or studies at the UAMS Medical Center.
The UAMS Outpatient Pharmacy provides outpatient prescription services to ambulatory patients who receive their medical care at the UAMS Medical Center, UAMS employees/students, and their immediate families. The outpatient pharmacy is licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy and operates under the statutes and regulations pursuant to a Registered Pharmacy Permit. The Outpatient Pharmacy is located on the first floor of the Outpatient Center Building.
The UAMS Specialty Pharmacy provides specialty medication services (e.g., benefit investigation, prior authorization, prescription mail-outs, etc.) to ambulatory patients who receive medical care at UAMS. To contact Specialty Pharmacy Services, please email SpecialtyPharmacyServices@uams.edu.

Hospital Pharmacy: 24 hours each day, seven days a week.
Inpatient Pharmacy Stockroom: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday – Friday. Closed on weekends and holidays.
Surgery (OR) Satellite: 6:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Closed on weekends and holidays.
Cancer Institute Satellite: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., seven days a week (including weekends and holidays)
Clinical Pharmacy Services: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Consult coverage is provided on weekends and holidays.
Investigational Drug Services: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Closed on weekends and holidays.
Outpatient Pharmacy: 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday – Friday. Closed on weekends and holidays.
Specialty Pharmacy Services: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Closed on weekends and holidays.

Pharmacy Residency Programs
The Pharmacy and Therapeutics Service Line at the UAMS Medical Center has one of only twelve original PGY1 pharmacy residency programs in the nation (established in 1956) and includes four residency positions each year. In 2020 UAMS started a PGY2 Critical Care pharmacy residency program.
