Background
PGY2 critical care pharmacy residency builds on Doctor of Pharmacy education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in critical care. This residency provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification.
The program fosters growth of residents into independent, accountable, and highly skilled leaders in the profession of pharmacy and the area of critical care pharmacy. The critical care residents will obtain an in-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas of emphasis and an advanced skill set in areas of clinical practice, education, scholarship, and pharmacy leadership. Graduates of the critical care program will be able to successfully serve as an authoritative resource in a variety of settings.
This is the first PGY2 Critical Care residency in the state of Arkansas.

- Additional requirements:
- Completion of PGY2 Appendix
- Completion of residency project
- Completion of a MUE
- Completion of Pharmacy Grand Rounds presentation
- Completion of Pharmacy Case Conference presentations
- Provide 2 hours of lecture in the Critical Care section of Therapeutics III at UAMS COP
