ARBEST (Arkansas Building Effective Services for Trauma)
Arkansas Building Effective Services for Trauma (ARBEST) is a state-funded program at the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute which aims to improve outcomes for traumatized children and families through excellence in clinical care, training, advocacy, and evaluation.
Project PLAY (Positive Learning for Arkansas’s Youngest)
Project PLAY partners with early childhood professionals to promote social-emotional health of Arkansas’ children. Suspension and expulsion, even at an early age, disrupt social-emotional growth. This leads to troubling behavior in young children that can snowball into poor school performance and adult incarceration. By intervening early, we can prevent future harm and support better outcomes. Project PLAY strives to: Increase the percentage of children in quality child care, Decrease switches in child care placement, and Improve communication between all the grown-ups who share caregiving responsibilities for a child.
Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists/CIRCUIT (Centralized Intake and Referral/Consultant Unified Intervention Team)
State Special Education Consultants are available to assist with the identification and interventions needed for students with sensory, intellectual and multiple disabilities, disruptive and/or self-injurious behavior, autism spectrum disorder, or brain injuries
Services can be requested by parents, guardians, or district school administrators. The Behavior Support Specialists build local district capacity by providing educators with support and services needed to implement evidence-based behavioral practices that meet the needs of all students. A CIRCUIT referral can be made if the behavior(s) meet the criteria of severe, including: eloping from campus, serious self-injury, or serious injury to peer or staff that requires medical attention
