Condition: Orthopaedic Trauma

Also called: Orthopaedic Injury

Orthopaedic trauma covers many types of injury, from sprains and fractures to life-threatening injuries related to motor vehicle crashes.  Traumatic orthopaedic injuries can put your limbs at risk. As the orthopaedic trauma providers at a level 1 trauma center, our fellowship-trained surgeons provide immediate care for traumatic injuries, helping save limbs and preserve muscle and bone function. This includes injuries such as fractures, dislocations and severe soft tissue injuries.

UAMS is home to the state’s experts when it comes to the management of pelvis and acetabulum fractures as well as fractures which involve joints. We also see many patients from around the state for treatment of non-unions, or malunions, which are fractures that don’t heal properly.
