Expertise Combined with Relentless Care

Every MS patient is different, and making a diagnosis is often difficult. Patients’ symptoms vary widely, often mimic other conditions and may go away for months at a time. Because there is no single test that can determine whether a patient has MS, our highly trained doctors use detailed examinations, blood and spinal fluid analyses, MRIs and other imaging to make a definitive diagnosis.

Using each patient’s unique results, our provider team develops a comprehensive treatment plans using a combination of medication and therapy services customized for each patient.

UAMS neurology team

Multiple sclerosis is not easy to diagnose. If you have MS, your symptoms may come and go, possibly for months at a time, and may be mild. Some symptoms may be the same as those of other conditions.

Once we confirm a patient’s diagnosis, we develop a plan to manage symptoms using a personalized combination of medication and therapy services.

Medication treatment involves drugs to both slow the progression of the disease and treat severe attacks and the associated inflammation. UAMS has a Specialty Pharmacy and a team of clinically pharmacists to help patients reduce medication costs, manage medication and minimize side effects.

Our therapy partners at UAMS Health include physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists.
