Treatment/Procedure: Immobilization

Also called: half cast; splinting; splint

Not every visit with an orthopaedic doctor will result in surgery. In fact, your provider might suggest using an immobilizer or half cast.

Immobilizers may be used to correct or help certain injuries heal. Sprains, dislocations, injuries to the soft tissues and protecting surgical wounds are all common uses for an immobilizer.
