Condition: Arthritis of the Ankle

Arthritis is a general term for a large group of ailments that often cause swelling, inflammation and pain in and around your joints and the surrounding tissue. Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid, Gout, Psoriatic and Post-traumatic arthritis are all common forms of the disease that should be treated with the help of a doctor.

Eventually, arthritis wears down your joints and the cartilage that protects them, resulting in bone grinding on bone.

Your foot and ankle doctor may suggest the use of a half-cast, immobilizer or walking boot as a non-surgical alternative.
